Chapter of the Year Submission
The 2004-05 year has been exciting and successful for the Chapter as we endeavored to further
our mission and succeeded by exceeding the goals we set out to accomplish at the beginning of the year. In honor of these
accomplishments, we believe it fitting that the State-wide Organizing Committee for the ’06 annual conference being held in Hollywood has aptly chosen the theme to be…”Experience the LA Renaissance.” The Los Angeles County Chapter has experienced a significant revitalization in the past several years. The key to the Chapter’s vast improvement lies in the institution of a strategic plan developed and implemented just prior to the 2004/2005 year. From this planning session, a number of key initiatives were developed, along with a pledge from all board members to place their specific duties and responsibilities
in the improvement of the Chapter as the highest priority for the coming year. One of our goals was to be a major competitor for the “Chapter of the Year.”
A review of the Chapter’s activities over the past five years reveals a dramatic change, showing the Chapter evolving from a predominantly inactive status, with few and sporadic programs, a lower cross-sectional membership of our profession, and minimal involvement in the local community at large; to a much more vibrant and growing organization. The past several years have been characterized as a renaissance by members of the State Board, who have witnessed first-hand, the resurgence of energy and activity, which has resulted in the Chapter becoming one of the more active organizations in the Los Angeles County professional community.
